Happy Birthday Emma!

Emma is 6 today. It doesn't seem possible! We went to her party last Saturday. It was fun to see everyone. She starts the first grade tomorrow.

I have decided that I need to do simpler, single layer cakes. Here is what it looked like when I finished it at home.

Yes, it is very crooked. More like the leaning tower of birthday cake. The problem is that it was four full squares of cake with a fifth square cut into quarters on top of that. I placed a dowel down the center of it to stabilize it. But here is what it looked like four hours or so later when we brought it out.

It had kind of started to collapse on itself. When I removed the top cone it had sunk about 3 - 4 inches. It was awful. Emma just smiled and said, it's okay. She blew out the candles and we ate about 1/16th of it. There was so much cake there. It was kind of gross.
I hope that Emma has a great birthday and a great upcoming school year. Love ya Em!

Busy Summer

I didn't realize how long it had been since I last posted. Almost a month. It has been a busy summer. We were lucky? enough to spend the 24th of July weekend in Moab. WOW! It was hot! But we had fun playing tourist.

This is all of us but Frank (someone had to take the picture) at Dead Horse Point State Park. That view is pretty cool .

Here is our view of Balanced Rock.
See how strong I am?! Ha!
After our weekend of playing tourist we have just been trying to keep up with everything that goes on in our lives.

I took a class at Heartland Paper (will post picture later). Got ready for card and scrapbook groups and have a few sewing projects in the works.

Can you guess what it might be? I will try to remember to take pictures of the finished project(s).
